Knowledge and satisfaction levels of Kocaeli University students about the medicosocial center

Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the use of family medicine out-patient clinic at the medico-social centre of Kocaeli University campus, the satisfaction levels and to what extend the center meets the needs.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out with the participation of students who applied to the centre. The questionnaire was applied to the participants via face-toface interviews.
Results: Three hundred fifty one people participated in the study. The average age of the participants was 21.8 ± 2.54 years. 47.3% (166) of the participants were female, and 52.7% (185) were male. While 4.9% of the participants didn’t have social security, 15.2% didn’t know about their social security.
Conclusion: The majority of the participants didn’t know that the centre serves as a tertiary family medicine outpatient clinic and they have to pay contribution out of pocket. Satisfaction rate of the centre’s family medicine out-patient clinic was 72.6%. The students who participated in the study stated that there was no laboratory in the medical department as the number one deficiencies of the unit (60.1%).
