Evaluation of individuals admitted to family medicine outpatient clinic for pre-marriage report and counseling

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the medical reports of individuals who applied to the family medicine outpatient clinic of our hospital in the last two years and to draw attention to the deficiencies in the legal context.
Method: Between January 2016 and January 2018, the test results of the individuals who applied to the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital before the marriage were evaluated with retrospective file screening method. SPSS 16 was used for analysis and p≤0,05 was considered significant.
Results: In order to obtain a marriage report, 1863 people applied, 918 (49.3%) were female and 945 (50.7%) were male. The blood group of 74 women was Rh-Negative. 990 subjects required hemoglobin electrophoresis; Thalememia was detected in 22 (2.2%) patients. The HBsAg test was done from 1579 people; 26 (1.7%) were positive. On the other hand, 1526 people done anti-HBs; 657(43.1%) had antiHBs positivity. HCV test was done from 1570 people; 3 (0.2%) were positive. VDRL was done from 1565 people; VDRL positivity was detec-ted in 6 (0.4%) patients. Chest radiography was requested in 1862 and only 11 (0.6%) of the patients had fibrotic changes in favor of tuberculosis.
Conclusion: Pre-marriage counseling is not only an individual health, but also an important step in the formation of healthy generations. For this reason, we think that the necessary social and individual informations should be done indicating the importance of pre-marital counseling.
